What happens when a prize winner visits HQ?
Well… On a hot, sunny Friday in August, we had the pleasure of doing just that and welcoming one of our recent winners, Diana, to Prize Paradise HQ.
Diana had recently won the Mercedes A-Class or £17,000 cash alternative competition, and after the excitement of her win had settled down, we discovered that she lived just a short distance from our HQ in Hockley.
So, we thought, why not invite her in?
Diana joined us alongside her son and daughter for an afternoon behind the scenes at Prize Paradise. She met members of the team, watched our live draw in person and even got involved herself!
By the end of the day, Diana had gone from watching the wheel on a screen at home to standing in HQ and giving it a spin herself.
And, for one member of the Prize Paradise community, she brought a little bit of luck with her too!
For many of our players, Prize Paradise is something they experience through their phone, computer or television screen during a live draw.
You see the team. You hear the conversations. You watch the wheel spin.
But seeing everything in person is a completely different experience! So what is it like as a Prize Winner Visiting HQ?
When we asked, “what did you imagine HQ and the team to be like in real life”, one thing Diana was particularly surprised by was the size of our live draw area. She told us:
“I knew you’d be as friendly and as nice as you are because I’ve watched you long enough. But I imagined this space to be huge! Almost like that area (as she pointed to the main floor area of the warehouse!
Diana explained that when watching our live draws from home, the space feels much larger.
She said that when Haks and Dan are calling across the room to Danielle and checking numbers, it almost feels as though they are standing much further apart.
Seeing it all in person gave her a completely different perspective.
Sometimes, things really do look different behind the screen!
We were interested to know whether meeting the team in person changed how Diana viewed Prize Paradise. Her answer meant a lot to us.
“It makes me love you guys even more. I’d love to be a part of the team!”
Diana said meeting everyone face-to-face made her want to continue playing, while also telling her friends and family about Prize Paradise.
Her message was simple:
Spread the word, Spread the love, and spread the joy.
That is exactly the type of community we want to continue building.
Our players are the reason Prize Paradise exists, so being able to meet them in person is always something special for us too!
Of course, we had to ask Diana about the moment she discovered she had won. Her reaction was exactly what you might expect from someone suddenly realising they had won £17,000!
She was sitting on the sofa while her daughter was having dinner. Her husband was already in bed.
Then came the moment.
Diana realised it was someone being mentioned on the live.
“Oh my God, my heart started beating.”
Her daughter immediately started asking if she had actually won, while Diana was trying to keep quiet and process what was happening.
But the excitement was about to wake up the whole house.
Diana ran upstairs and jumped onto the bed while her husband was trying to sleep.
Understandably, he had absolutely no idea what was going on.
The dogs started barking. Diana was running around.
And her husband was left trying to work out whether there had been an emergency or whether someone had broken into the house!
In reality, it was something much better.
Diana had just won.
She described pacing up and down her bedroom with her hands shaking as the reality of the win began to sink in.
Diana had won the choice of a Mercedes A-Class or £17,000 cash.
For her, the decision came down to what would make the biggest difference at that particular time.
She had recently passed her driving test, so the car was certainly tempting.
But she also had plans for her home.
“It is a lot of money. I’ve not long passed my driving test as well. So much needs doing at home and it is just a life-changing amount!”
In an ideal situation, Diana told us, if everything at home had already been finished and there was nothing left to do, she would have chosen the car.
Instead, the £17,000 cash alternative gave her the flexibility to put the money towards things that mattered most to her and her family.
That is one reason cash alternatives can be so important. The same prize can mean something completely different to every winner.
For one person, a new car might be the perfect choice.
For another, the cash could provide the freedom to make home improvements, support family plans or put money towards something they have been working towards.
We asked Diana what she would say to someone who has been following Prize Paradise but hasn’t entered a competition yet.
Her answer came from her own experience.
“I’ve been playing for a year now and I never thought a 50p ticket would win £17,000 or a car.”
Her message was:
“Oh my God, don’t give up. Just do not give up.”
She also shared that she had often told her daughter that she felt their luck would change one day.
In an emotional moment, Diana spoke about her mum, who she lost ten years ago. She keeps a photograph of her in the car, and on the day of the competition, Diana said she had been looking at the picture and asking her mum to bring her some luck.
For Diana, that winning moment clearly carried a personal meaning. It is another reminder that every winner has their own story!
Of course, we are always adding new competitions and life changing jackpots! And you can find them all here: https://prizeparadise.co.uk/competitions
The day ended exactly as it had started. With plenty of laughs.
Diana and her family were an absolute pleasure to have at HQ, and it was fantastic to spend time with them.
From hearing the story of her £17,000 win to watching her experience a live draw from the other side of the screen, it was an afternoon we really enjoyed.
The best part of Prize Paradise will always be the people. The winners, the players, the conversations and the stories that come from moments like these.
We’re incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community, and we hope Diana’s visit is the first of many opportunities to welcome more winners through the doors at Prize Paradise HQ.
Who knows?
The next person spinning the wheel with us might just be you!
